Slutwalkers and Saints
Posted by David Futrelle
The SlutWalks have not just driven many MRAs to distraction; they’ve also driven one of the bloggers at the Gates of Vienna to set aside her usual Islam-bashing for a few moments to take on the awful bullies marching in the SlutWalks. Yes, bullies, for how else can we describe young women who go out of their way to highlight their foul sexiness whilst denying their bodies to the helpless males who happen to catch sight of them?
According to the blogger who calls herself Dymphna:
Women who walk around in slutty clothing in order to “voice” their opinion about male sexual aggression are indeed acting out a hugely immature power trip. … Call it for what it is. Strutting your stuff and daring anyone to stop you isn’t real freedom. It’s a sneaking, sadistic bully-girl game.
So evil is the behavior of these slutbullies that if any man decides, upon catching sight of one of them, to grope or otherwise assault her, well, she’s at least as much to blame as the dude who lays his hands on her.
If the act of strutting your stuff results in an equal reaction, a girl must take at least half the responsibility for whatever transpires as a result.
Dymphna seems to mean this quite literally, suggesting that a slut who gets assaulted should be charged
as an accessory before the fact — i.e., if some dolt grabs her, then at the very least she is his partner in crime. And the offense in which they both participate is a serious transgression against civil order. Sadistic provocation is a breach of the peace.
Ironically, Dymphna the blogger has apparently named herself after Saint Dymphna, a 7th century Irishwoman who, legend has it, was murdered by her father after she refused to marry him.
In the light of Dymphna the blogger’s airtight logic, we have to wonder if Saint Dymphna was wearing something really, really slutty. I mean, what else could have inspired her father’s foul desires?

Sometimes I think NWO is the greatest piece of performance art ever created.
I’ve been both Romeo, and Iago. Heck, over the years of various activity in theater I’ve played, Noah, God, Mordred, a whole lot of “chorus” parts, Mr. Jordan, Clarence Darrow, and stuff no one who wasn’t into theater has probably never heard of (e.g. David Crampton in “Mornings at Seven, and the male lead in “The Gin Game (his name escapes me now).
“Heck, over the years of various activity in theater I’ve played… God…”
No one here is surprised.
But only NWO can play NWO. Or maybe Ami can.
Also, Pecunium would be a damn scary Iago. > >
I once played Mrs Muffstench, you know, from The Pickwick Papers.
/lie
I remember reciting the To be or not to be soliloquy for an English class in high school. Clearly, I plan on killing my uncle.
Ami can play everybody >_> And she MIGHT BE alrdy! o:
ORION - Fabulous! That was my role too! I had a terrible allergic reaction to the makeup! But after that got sorted out, I loved it. Clearly, we must team up and do whatever it was this role makes us!
I want to note that this comes hot on the heels of NWO saying the myth of Orpheus is historical proof that roving gangs of lesbians murdered men in ancient Greece. Now I want to send him a copy of Arsenic and Old Lace, just to see what his amazing brain would make of it.
Oh, and I was in a high-school production of M*A*S*H*, which means I’ve now seen more combat duty than NWO.
@ithiliana
“NWO is the perfect example though I wince at using the word “naked” in the same sentence as his name. He comes here and insults us. That’s aggression. He’s not interested in communicating or in trying to change any minds”
I come here to mock the mockers, except when I mock it’s an insult when you mock it’s so righteous. In order to “change” a persons mind about something that person needs an open mind, which feminism doesn’t permit.
————————————-
“You probably don’t even realize that there are deep divisions and conflicts in feminist discussions”
The only division of feminism is the conflict of women deciding wether men should act like x or y in a given situation. Reguardless, it’s women dictating mens actions according to their needs/desires.
————————————-
“Misogynists are not afraid to say that feminism is incorrect/unnecessary/evil/fill in the blank, NWO!”
Any disagreement with a feminist, and by extension any woman equals misogyny. That’s quite a perk when any disgreement equals hatred of women. did you have a hand in writing VAWA?

@ClioPersephone
“Rapists are not shadowy figures cloaked in shadows. They are not a separate species of human and many of them are not “unhinged.” SlutWalk attempts to bring awareness to these facts and to protest the current attitudes about rape.”
Yes they are shadowy figures. Just because women cry rape when they cheat, or get pregnant or want an excuse or attention or whatever reason, doesn’t make it so. Just because men get punished because women lie. How’s that saying go? Only men can stop sexual assaults. Well, only women can stop false accusations. Ya gotta acknowlege they take place first though.

@KathleenB
“NWO: More than one reason, dipshit. Women getting uppity weren’t the sole cause of the collapse of the western Roman empire.”
The main social reason would be a reasonable guess, just like today. Funny that saying about history repeating itself.
—————————————
@Nobinayamu
“And -and!- prove that rape is caused by sexual arousal and frustration. Should be simple enough.”
What other reason could there be for committing a crime as severe as rape other than severe sexual frustration/dysfunction caused by? Boredom? Fatigue? Lack of sleep? Poor diet? Athletes foot?

@johnnykaje
“Christians. Blaming the fall of Rome on non-Christian things. Yeaaaaaaah.”
Feminists. Blaming the fall of Rome on non-feminist things. Yeaaaaaaah.
—————————————-
@shaenon
“I mean, foot-binding. Total girl power thing.”
Now willingly go stuff your feel in a pair of heels to hurt yourself.
—————————————-
@shesaidwut
“In Rome and Greece, they were propaganda tools, used to keep women in line. They are, in fact, exactly what you’re doing:”
The irrevocably indoctrinated enlightening me about propaganda. No doubt the answer is more feminism.
—————————————
@Pecunium
“She is in control of how she displays her sexuality, and (if she doesn’t touch people who don’t want to be touched, and takes no for an answer when she makes an offer of sexual interaction) she is in control of what sexual contacts she has with people”
Than if a man shows young girls entering puberty his package he is in control of his sexuality as well. If that causes girls to grow up sexually disfunctional that’s their problem. If he calls all women scanks, hey baby nice ass you wanna fuck, ya know what fucking is little girl that’s alright as well, if it affect women that’s their problem. He never touched them.
If he calls all women scanks, hey baby nice ass you wanna fuck, ya know what fucking is little girl that’s alright as well, if it affect women that’s their problem. He never touched them.
That’s an uncomfortably specific set of phrases.
Hey NWO!
Describe, or show us a picture of, a woman who is not a slut!
Show us a woman who is controlling her sexuality appropriately and dressing and acting in a way that treats men with respect. Surely you can at least imagine one, right?
Seconding Holly’s request. I will also accept half recollected dramatic presentations as evidence in this particular matter!
Wow NWO IS PISSED XDDD
And trying his BEST to ignore his giant ignorant play gaffe xDDD
“DON’T NOTICE WHAT I JUST F-ED UP HUGE ABOUT!” xD
Wait, heels are a feminist thing now?
Heels are a really complicated subject in feminist thought, and you’re not even at the “women are people” stage yet. I think we should leave that topic until later.
Plays? Who said we were talking about plays?
Please, Ami, we’re discussing Christina Hendricks in the other thread. Try to stay on topic.
But it’s more fun this way! xD
xOOOOOOOO
(what actress is that? O: )
I’m honestly surprised NWO hasn’t responded to the “Show us a non-slut” requests with “there is no such thing as a slut because all women are beautiful goddesses beyond all criticism.” I kinda thought that was coming.
But I think because we’ve been persistent he thinks this is one of those sneaky feminist traps like the time we tried to trap him into saying the Norway massacre was a bad thing.
NWO never gets that the point of our “traps” is how bad it looks when he doesn’t answer, so he just keeps walking into them.
Seriously, NWO, if you can’t describe any attributes of a non-slut, then anything you say about “sluts” is meaningless, because right now your definition of the word seems to include Saint Agnes and the Virgin Mary.
“What other reason could there be for committing a crime as severe as rape other than severe sexual frustration/dysfunction caused by? Boredom? Fatigue? Lack of sleep? Poor diet? Athletes foot?”
OK, first, sexual frustration is not the same as sexual dysfunction. Just putting a backslash between them doesn’t make it so. Having sex with another person is not a right - it is about a mutual exchange of feeling, sensation, pleasure whatever.
And, it’s a pretty well-known feminist slogan that rape is often about power - and about using forced intercourse to demonstrate your power over another person. That ain’t about sexual frustration. And lets face it, I know teenage boys who require sex three times a day to not be sexually frustrated…it’s just not reasonable to expect women to somehow magically stop men from getting sexually frustrated.
This gives me an excuse to post this
“What other reason could there be for committing a crime as severe as rape other than severe sexual frustration/dysfunction caused by? Boredom? Fatigue? Lack of sleep? Poor diet? Athletes foot?”
What are the reasons for committing other crimes NWO? :3
kristen: My favorite was tristesse
NWO: No reply to the history of Rome.
Here, let me contractualise it for you.
I, PECUNIUM (hereinafter referred to as, THE PARTY OF THE FIRST PART), do hereby enjoin, command and compell, NWOSLAVE (hereinafter referred to as THE PARTY OF THE SECOND PART) re read, and reply to THE PARTY OF THE FIRST PART’s explanation of THE PARTY OF THE SECOND PART’s errors in fact on the subject of the Fall of Rome, which THE PARTY OF THE SECOND PART must not fail to perform lest HE answer at HIS peril.
As to the nonsense about nudity. It depends on the locale, the jurisdiction and the intent. If it’s mere nudity I don’t care. In San Francisco, Berkeley, or Santa Cruz, the mere exposure is perfectly legal (obscenity is prohibited, but nudity is not, ipso facto obscene.
If a man, or a woman, were to grab his, or her, crotch, in front of anyone and say, “Bet you’d like to get your mouth on this,” I’d object.
But the naked body, is just a body.
Believe me, I know from sexual frustration. I have never raped anyone. I’ve never been tempted to rape anyone. There. Is. No. Connection.
So, bringing our Chicago discussion to a subject you care about: you are aware that Ian McDiarmid, the actor who plays Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars movies, is not actually an evil galactic dictator, right? He presumably doesn’t support the words or actions of his character, nor did he personally script the role himself.
Crap.
anyone
the rest in plain text.
So, are the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders guilty of lewd and lascivious acts with minors? Because kids watch football too.
Ah, I love Santa Cruz. If there were any jobs I would never have left.
To clarify, I mean, what are the specific reasons you believe are behind different other crimes :3
Or to tie Nudity into our former discussion - Is the cast of Hair guilty of sexual assault upon the audience?

Whut!?
LIES! >:O
I’m confused. Is Ian McKellan a good guy who uses magic or a bad guy who uses magnetism?
This seems to be a common theme among the MRA trolls… didn’t Cold maintain that a fictional character represented the author therefore represented feminism? o_O
@CB he’s both! He’s playing both sides against the middle! >:3
Who was it who thought Lolita was an example of a positive inter-generational relationship?
I played Mrs. Paroo in high school. Clearly I’m in favor of women marrying con artists on their way through town.
My gods, the stupid just burns. BUUUURRRNNSSS, precious!
Uh oh, Kathleen. You’re obviously in favor of biting the fingers off of Hobbitsess.
Oh, totes, Captain. I hate the little hairy footed bastards.*
*Okay, not so much. I actually squeed when Martin Freeman was cast as Bilbo - he’s awesomesauce.
and it was only the one finger…
Back in college*, one of my professors brought in a slipper worn by a woman whose feet had been bound. Until I saw it, I didn’t fully realize how disfiguring the process was. The bones of the foot fold up under themselves, resulting in a foot that’s half as long but twice as thick as an unaltered foot-and is, of course, next to useless for walking. The slipper my professor owned was about three inches long and three inches high.
Anyway… no, not a fan of high heels. In the last few years, two of my older female relatives have had painful foot surgery to correct problems from a lifetime of wearing heels. Not fancy stiletto heels or anything, just the normal “business” heels they had to wear to look professional at work. High heels are really bad for your feet.
*Where I was once in a comedy sketch about cannibalism, which means I eat human flesh. Justin Long was in the same troupe, which means Macintosh computers eat human flesh. But you all knew that.
Actually, I’m going to argue for the moment on the topic of high heels. I used to never be able to wear them, until I hit about 35, and then I found a couple of brands that have enough support and are cut to properly fit my feet. I now have four pairs of heels that I can wear and walk around in at work all day, walk well over a mile in without thinking about it, etc. etc. No, they’re not sneakers, but as comfortable as most dressy flats I own.
There simply is no comparison between heels - societally expected or not, their wearing at least nowadays is ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY (it used to be that certain classes of workers, airline stewardesses, etc, absolutely had to wear them). Bound feet on the other hand, was something that had to be started when the girl was still very young and her bones quite pliable. Once done, it could never be undone. It purposefully hobbled women so that they could not work or get far from their house on their own.
And I co-sign with the others. NWOSlave, POST A PICTURE of a woman you consider to be dressed modestly.
And I will add: if you truly believe that rape is caused by sexual frustration and desire as a direct result of women teasing men with indecent clothing, please explain the rapes of - nuns, senior citizens, women in burqas, mentally and physically handicapped people, and children. Rape is not about desire, it is about dominance, control, and aggression.
re: heels - I cannot wear them. As in, not physically capable of the kind of contortions they subject your lower body to (arthritis in an ankle, bursitis in a hip, both caused by injuries. this is what is technically called a ‘fuckleg’). And even if I could, I wouldn’t, because I’m six feet tall without them and have gunboats attached to the bottom of my legs. So no, not willingly. Ever.
But if others know the risks (severe damage to toes, permanent shortening of the Achilles tendon, etc) and are willing to take them, the have fun!
NWO, still no picture of a non-slutty women?
Nah. NWO has moved on to defending the right to exploit minors for sex.
