So when women were denied rights, they were actually being pampered and revered. When men are “denied rights,” suddenly it’s oppression. It’s like some kind of surreal math where A = B and B = C, but C never = A. (Of course, this assumes that you think “men sometimes being denied custody” is hateful oppression of the male sex.)
Now I want to write a sarcastic poem titled “Hateful Oppression of the Male Sex.”

You should probably learn what concepts mean before trying to disprove them, because this is the most embarrassing counterclaim I’ve ever seen. The privilege isn’t in being yourself, it’s in being granted primacy that is unearned on the basis of status within a class.
This is absolutely stupid; Perhaps if privilege were a concept that *ALSO* assigns blame, your retort would make sense, but what does your control of the situation have to do with whether or not you’re advantaged on the basis of status? Not a god damn thing, that’s what.
Mag, privilege is empirically quantifiable. If you don’t want to believe in it, that’s fine, you can remain ignorant, however your opinion matters little in the face of logic. So, no, the whole notion is not bullshit. What is sad however is how you think your opinion can dispute fact.
The Power Elite; written by C Wright Mills, for instance discusses privilege from an economic stand point. Simply looking at literacy, or the notion of job retention in markets based on gender (or race, etc.) and looking at statistics is indicative of privilege. You can not deny this information on any basis of reality.

There seems to be a widespread misunderstanding of what “privilege” means… it’s not an insult to say someone is privileged, it’s simply a description. It’s about how the world reacts to you. I experience male privilege all the time because of my looks, even though it’s not part of my self-identity. And almost everyone is privileged in some way (fairly large majorities are cis-privileged and able-body-privileged, for instance… are those the right terms?)
