Misogyny. I mock it.
I find a lot of it in what's called the "manosphere," a loose collection of Men's Rights, Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW), and Pickup Artist (PUA) sites. That said, there are numerous posts here that don't have anything to do with MRAs, or PUAs or any of their ilk.

Blog at WordPress.com. Theme: Mystique by digitalnature.
This reminds me of a joke I saw on Twitter the other day:
Q: How many MRAs does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: We’ll ask them if we can get a word in while they scream at women for making it dark.
Also, you may not have seen me post here before, but I read all the threads, and Ruby - you’re an abhorrent twit, just give up.
Less rape, more Maru!
A call to arms that needs to be preserved for posterity! Take notes Ruby.
@Cassandra
Multiple people have brought up the reality of who usually gets raped in prison to Ruby. As far as I can tell (since she refuses to engage those arguments), she either still stubbornly clings to the idea that only the Deserving(tm) get raped in prison, or she would give those others a conciliary handshake and a “Sucks to be you, but you understand that those others need to be punished, don’t you? What’s that, they were the ones who were raping you? Oh well… Look! A three-headed monkey!!”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdhLQCYQ-nQ
Oh darn. That link goes to Maru & a very big box.
Thinking of how much Slavey’s self-image resembles a Morlock led me to the wiki on Morlocks, which led me to The Descent, which led me to cave diving, so now I need a mental palate cleanser because holy crap is that shit terrifying. Seriously, the movie didn’t need the mutants, just film people diving in completely dark underwater caves, that’s scary enough. (My mind helpfully adds sharks, which are much scarier than people, even mutant people.) Thankfully Maru can make it better.
I’ve introduced all of my co-workers to Maru. We’re obsessed with his videos. I have one cat who also loves boxes, but she doesn’t dive into them headfirst like Maru does. She’s far too ladylike.
I love Maru & the Very Big Box, just the way he jumps out of the box makes me laugh.
My current cat doesn’t seem to be interested in boxes or bags, sadly. My former cat was obsessed with both, particularly the big paper shopping bags you get from Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, etc. I have pics of me carrying him around in one of those.
http://imgur.com/lKKkD,vplms
He also liked to shove his face into small bags, like this empty crisp packet.
http://imgur.com/lKKkD,vplms
(No, that’s not a freakishly large remote control, he was just very young and tiny then.)
Oh yeah, my youngest cat loves grocery bags. I usually leave a few out for him after putting the groceries away. I usually use cloth ones but sometimes will get paper ones from the store for my recyclables. I wish I had video of the time he stuck his head through the paper handle and went running back and forth with the bag on his back. By the time I followed him down the hall to the bedroom he’d dived under the bad, broke the handle, and escaped the evil bag.
Non-Maru mental palate cleanser! More cave exploration, but this one isn’t scary, it’s gorgeous. Move forward to 17 minutes in for a jungle more than 2 miles into a deep cave.
I wonder Ruby, would you be ready to apply your own judgment? If you had the mean and opportunity, would you, yourself, rape an EVIL person? Would you congratulate your kid, your sibling, parent of friend if they had done such thing? After all, raping EVIL people is, for you, a good, funny and deserved thing, right?
And what evil and what’s not? Murder, unintentional killing, killing without premeditation, rape, rape of an EVIL person, theft, vandalism, kidnapping, torture, cons, assault, drunk driving, using drugs, selling drugs,… How clear is your limit?
More cats:

Oops. Meant to embed both of those. I fail at life.

I will say for the record (and I am a feminist, though I don’t presume to speak for all feminists)
that NOBODY deserves to be raped for any reason, even as a supposed “punishment” for a crime. That is a slippery slope where the degree of “evil” is highly subjective. In NWO’s world, many people probably “deserve” to be raped. No human should have that much power over another. I don’t care if you are the most evil person in the history of the world, Adolf Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, no one deserves to be raped. There, I’m done now.
Freitag, sometimes you do everything right, and the videos don’t embed. I blame society.
And I’m not talking about bullshit “financial rape” or “divorce rape” or “rape by proxy” that MRAs love to compare to real rape. Rape is rape. MRAs don’t get to redefine that word to suit them.
Today, a homeless man was raping a woman IN BROAD DAYLIGHT just down the street from where I live (I was not there at the time- I only recently heard about it). People just passed them by on the street, and only after about 10 or 20 minutes did someone finally call the cops and the guy got arrested. The woman appeared to be intoxicated and incapacitated, but they’re still not sure if she was that way before he started raping her or if he injected her with something.
I’m still reeling.
And this is from the fucking town where we’re all supposed to be liberal and tolerant and shit.
It’s only been a month since that mentally deranged schizophrenic jumped out of the bushes and stabbed a prominent businesswoman from the downtown area to death- now they’re saying that he was only let out because of a “clerical error” and was not supposed to ever be released. He probably will get let out again and murder more women.
What the hell? Did I wake up in Mad Max universe?
RE: Cats- My cat is just incredibly whiny all of the time. He meows in this horribly pitiful way, even after he’s been fed, groomed, played with, given his daily dose of catnip and gets plenty of cozy naps on his window perch.
He also does this weird purr/talking thing that I’ve never seen any other cat do ever. Sometimes I think that he’s trying to say something, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what the hell it is.
Maybe he’s actually just singing, “I know a song that gets on everybody’s nerves, everybody’s nerves, everybody’s nerves, I know a song that gets on everybody’s nerve and this is how it goes.”
More kitty questions! I went back to visit the cat, and again he was all over me. He was in the same spot though. Nobody home, 4 apartments and I tried all of them. Do we think that’s probably his house if he keeps hanging out in that one spot? One of the apartments has a “pets live here” sign, another has a bird (I heard it yelling). No collar, but healthy looking and very friendly. I just don’t want to ignore him if he’s lost/abandoned, but I don’t want to snatch him up if he’s someone’s cat. No microchip as far as I can tell.
Kitty prolly does live there. At least, it looks like he’ll be OK without you having to do anything.
I hope so! And that I can spot his people soon so I know. He’s such a sweetie, I’m sure I could find someone to adopt him if he is a stray. Not allowed any more cats at my place.
One thing about microchips- sometimes you can’t feel them. My cat has a prominent one in his neck-scruff, but a lot of cats that are chipped don’t feel like it. Plus a lot of cats do have collars but since they’re break-away for safety reasons, an outdoor cat can pathologically lose collars if he/she snags it on something.
I’d say, if kitty looks fed, is hanging out in the same place, and generally looks cared-for, you have nothing to worry about. Most abandoned cats either hang around colonies or “old lady houses” (where they get fed en-masse by some well-meaning person) in groups or they wander the streets looking emaciated and scruffy.
Most friendly, well-socialized cats are homed.
Had a communal cat in our street for quite a few years. People moved in and out, but Puss always had half a dozen different houses he slept and ate in.
I’ve been adopted by a neighbourhood kitty; I work from home so he comes and sits with me throughout the day while his owners are presumably at work. He is tiny, with a stumpy tail, and friendly to the point of seeming a bit needy. We don’t know his name, so he is known variously as Mr Fluffles, Major Fluffles, Inspector Fluffles, Ernest Fluffleton or Chairman Meow.
During the summer, when the summer people are up, my cat will spend the day when I’m away at work with retirees, just hanging out and absorbing belly rubs.
She always runs home when she sees my car heading for the house.
For a while they were convinced that she was a homeless cat. No, not quite! Just a friendly one.
I’ve been waiting for an excuse to post pictures of my adorable fluffer-nutter, Niko. Doesn’t care for boxes so much, but he does like to hang out in the bathroom sink for some reason. One day I’ll get a good picture of it, but for now, here you go.
Niko pic #1
Niko pic #2
Niko is adorably fluffy.
Are we turning this into a Pet Picture Party? Because I think I can find something to throw in. The pictures may not be brilliant quality though.
@Shade, you never need an excuse to post pictures of pets here.
BTW, is anyone else whistling the theme to the Andy Griffith Show, or is it just me? Andy Griffith has died.
@ShadetheDruid
Why not? Pet pictures are good for the soul, at whatever quality you can manage.
Hopefully the links work, haven’t used Dropbox for a while.

I’ll attempt to overload the conversation with ginger cats first off.
This is Mango, although we took to calling her Moo a long time ago, for some reason. o.O She’s the one that i’ve mentioned before that likes to dribble a lot and she’s a big pest.. but cats tend to counter being annoying by also being lovable, cute and fluffy. >.< She's the old lady of the house.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8091316/RK000001.JPG
And this is the other one, not taking any notice of me when I tried to take her picture. She's 'imaginatively' called Smudge (it's a little hard to see in the picture, but she's a tortoiseshell). She was dumped along with a couple of other cats up the road from here (she and her sister were rescued and rehomed, the third was unfortunately run over
). She's a young one, and also a one-cat rabbit population control machine.
They aren't big fans of each other but they're tolerant.
Ooh…. I have pet pictures.

+1 internets for every pet picture. All internets must go!
Pecunium: I love that first one, it would be perfect for a caption competition.
This isn’t exactly pet-related, but something kinda sad happened this morning.
We’ve had this awesome black squirrel living around here for ages doing its squirrely thing, and this morning it managed to electrocute itself to death (taking our power supply with it).
So now we’re down to one squirrel, at least I think there’s a grey one still around somewhere (we did originally have two greys and a black, but the cat got the other grey one).
Poor squirrel, and poor blacked out ShadetheDruid
We had a similar trouble with flying foxes once. They stay hanging on the power line after they die, so others saw a bat hanging off the line and thought it must be a good place to roost. There were 4 by the end.
Random update on squirrel-related subjects, apparently rather than being down to one resident squirrel due to the electrocution, there’s actually a bunch of random baby ones now (including black ones)! All is not lost!
They’re currently frolicking in a tree and have an awesome squirrely time.
Sweet! Squirrels are great.
